Dominic Sandbrook is one of Britain’s best-known historians, a writer and broadcaster whose work has shaped how the country remembers the post-war era. He is best known for his bestselling series tracing Britain from the 1950s to the 1980s - Never Had It So Good, White Heat, State of Emergency, Seasons in the Sun and Who Dares Wins - as well as books on recent American history including Mad as Hell.

His television work includes BBC Two’s documentary series The 70s and The 80s, which adapted his writing for screen and brought political and cultural history to mass audiences. He also wrote The Great British Dream Factory, his acclaimed history of modern British popular culture, and presented further BBC documentaries including Das Auto, Tomorrow’s Worlds, and Let Us Entertain You.

Sandbrook is also the author of the Adventures in Time series for younger readers - inspired by his son and described by the Financial Times as a “spectacular series retelling thrilling tales from past eras” - covering everyone from the Vikings and Cleopatra to the world wars and the six wives of Henry VIII. A longtime critic and columnist, he has been the Sunday Times chief history critic for almost two decades and writes a regular column for The Times.
